Our Ministries

When we gather for worship, we connect with believers everywhere.

When we study the Bible and pray, we are drawn more deeply into God’s own saving story.

When we serve others and address social issues that affect the common good, we live out our Christian faith.

St. James DVD

Church Service on DVD. If you had been listening to the radio service of St. James Lutheran Church for years, you may have noticed that we are no longer on the radio. Instead we have been making DVD's of the church services each Sunday, and copies of the services have been distributed to friends and members who would like one. We are currently only recording the Sunday worship services, but recordings can also be made of special services as well. If you would like to have a copy of the services, please let Ann in the church office know, and it can be provided.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is made up of a group of people who have crafted shawls laden with prayers. These knitted or crocheted shawls are then given to someone as a reminder of God’s presence. It is a gift for every time and every occasion— joyful or sorrowful. On a personal note, Alice Turbiville received one of these shawls while she was in hospice last year and wrapped herself in it every day. She often asked to have the accompanying card read to her and was so thankful that each stitch was made with a prayer. This is a marvelous ministry! If anyone is interested in learning how to make these shawls, please speak to Genevieve.

Quilting will be the first Monday & Tuesday of each month. This group is in dire need of more people to help make quilts. They have coffee mid morning and a sack lunch at noon. If you are interested in joining this group of wonderful quilters, please speak to Carolyn Kindsfater.

Compassion Cupboard

The Compassion Cupboard will be open every Tuesday and Thursday for a set period of time with different churches in Belle Fourche responsible each week to help run the facility. With the churches taking turns, it means we will need to help about every 2 months. If you would like to volunteer, please sign the sheet in the back of the church or let Pastor Jeff know you are interested.
